This leisurely tour of the Emerald Isle will show you Ireland's breathtaking scenery while you learn of the history and listen to the music that has given Ireland the name "Enchanted Island". You will stroll through magnificent mansions and see how the ruling classes lived. You'll ride a train across a bog with its unique flora, fauna and 6,000 year old bog oaks. Stroll the lively, narrow streets of Galway, see the thrilling Atlantic wall at the Cliffs of Moher, tour the famed Ring of Kerry, taste Irish whiskey and visit the Capital city of Dublin.
Itinerary
Day 1 (Sunday) – Depart JFK on Aer Lingus for the overnight flight to Ireland. Dinner will be served after take off and a beverage will be served prior to landing on the Emerald Isle.
Day 2 (Monday) - Arrive Shannon early morning. After collecting your luggage and passing through Irish customs you will be met by your Irish driver/guide who will escort you to your waiting motorcoach. Your tour will begin with a stop for complimentary tea/coffee and scones in the Village of Bunratty and then you will travel southward through County Limerick into County Kerry. On arrival in Killarney there will be a visit to Muckross House and Gardens for a tour of the lovely manor home. You can also have lunch here on your own before returning to Killarney to check into your hotel. The remainder of the day will be free to explore Killarney on your own and perhaps take a jaunting car ride along the lovely Lakes of Killarney. Dinner tonight in your hotel. Day 3 (Tuesday) – Following a hearty Irish breakfast you will enjoy a full day touring the breathtaking Ring of Kerry, a 110-mile circular drive along the Iveragh Peninsula. You will have excellent views of Dingle Bay to the north and the estuary of the River Kenmare to the south while passing through Caherciveen, Glenbeigh and Killorglin, home of the “Puck Faire”. There will be plenty of time for photos as well as for lunch on your own. You will return to Killarney mid-afternoon. Tonight dinner in the hotel and afterwards you may want to visit one of Killarney’s famous singing pubs for some local entertainment. Overnight Killarney Plaza Hotel, Killarney. (B,D)
Day 4 (Wednesday) – Breakfast and off through the Irish speaking village of Macroom to Cobh for a visit to the Cobh Heritage Center, which was opened in 1993 and depicts the varied history of emigration from Ireland and many European countries to the United States over the past 150 years. Then off through Cork City to Blarney Castle to kiss the famous Blarney Stone and do some shopping at the world famous Blarney Woollen Mills. Return through Cork City to your hotel for check-in. Day 5 (Thursday) – Following breakfast in your hotel, you will drive the short distance to the Jameson Heritage Center and Whiskey Corner where there will be a guided tour of the old distillery, mills and maltings and the largest pot still in the world. Take advantage of the opportunity to taste some of Ireland’s most famous export. Then on to Waterford for a tour of the Waterford Crystal Factory with time to visit the beautiful showrooms before checking into your hotel. Dinner in the hotel dining room. Day 6 (Friday) – A hearty Irish breakfast then head north to Dublin City, stopping in County Wicklow (known as the Garden of Ireland) for a visit to Glendalough before arriving in the capital city of Dublin early afternoon.
